TASA-ICoD 2024 – Design Education Laboratory Summer Program | Qingdao, China
Tsinghua Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) & International Council of Design (ICoD)
During the summer of 2024 I was Selected for the inaugural cohort of a prestigious global design leadership program hosted by TASA in partnership with ICoD. Collaborated in a cross-disciplinary team of designers and engineers from Tsinghua University (China) and Imperial College London to envision sustainable futures in fashion.
My team developed Terra Band, a speculative wearable concept for the year 2050, responding to the challenge of balancing environmental responsibility with individual expression. In a world where citizens wear uniform smart suits to combat waste, the Terra Band enables users to scan textures and colors from their environment and display them on a ChroMorphous smart textile layer—turning the suit into a dynamic canvas of self-expression. The band also logs personal style data and conveys emotion, integrating identity into the everyday uniform. The project entailed a combination of projection mapping, 3D modeling and rendering protoypes of our sustainable design intervention.
We presented the final concept to TASA faculty and industry leaders with our concept selected for permanent exhibition at TASA and upcoming showcase at the 2025 TASA-ICoD International Conference.
