“Mudras In Motion” Interactive Peacock installation

This was a collaborative project with 3 designers during my first year of my masters. The interactive sculpture uses a camera system and machine learning  to interpret 6 mudras (gestures) from Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian hand dance form. Each gesture, rich in symbolic meaning, is captured and processed in real-time. The system then activates motors that transform the sculpture—composed of wing and feather elements—into fluid, expressive formations. These movements metaphorically translate the emotional or narrative essence of each mudra (hand gesture), blending traditional cultural expression with modern technology to create a dynamic fusion of art, design, and engineering.
